We were in Queensland for twelve days of fun, relaxation and socializing, with five hundred Rovers from around Australia and Asia Pacific region. The members of the Scotch crew spent the first couple of days of their expedition relaxing on the beaches around Noosa with one hundred other Rovers. Apart from the stress of swimming … Read More

Paul Mishura’s Squire Hike

FRIDAY 2ND TO SUNDAY 4TH AUGUST 1996 PLANNING. I initially intended to bush-bash from “Sokil”, the Ukrainian Scout camp north of Aireys Inlet, to Anglesea, over two days. In attempting to find a campsite, it was found that the 1977 government “Vicmap” (the newest available) showed roads which no … Read More

Fraser National Park – Lake Eildon

Katherine and I met Nick and Stuart Ferres at the campsite and we began to hike at 11.20 am, on Saturday 18th December. We had decided to go anticlockwise around the track so as to begin with the steep climb rather than end with it. ‘Steep’ was the understatement of the day. It was about 1 km along Keg Spur which had a very steep gradient and was tough going. It was quite a warm and very sunny day and … Read More

2nd to 6th January 1991 Present: Ian Fieldhouse, Rod Davies, David Law, Stuart Fawcett, Marcus Ferguson Wednesday the second of January, nineteen ninety one was a bloody hot day. So hot it was a total fire ban and by five-thirty pm, when the four other adventure seeking lovers had arrived at my place, a change of plan was required. Squire Hike – Lal Lal State Forrest

29 September – 1 October 1989 After an eventful Friday afternoon and evening, a party of three consisting of Euan, Andrew and myself left Melbourne at 10:15 pm. We finally reached Lal Lal Falls Picnic Area after twelve Saturday morning. (I’m sure the travelling distances and time would have been a lot shorter if it hadn’t been for my navigation!) Following a quick look over the picnic area by torchlight and to our surprise discovering some Sleeping Beauties (Venturer’s) in … Read More
