Christmas in July

Last weekend the crew got away to Elliott Lodge to celebrate Christmas in July, an Australian tradition of celebrating Christmas in appropriately cold weather. Service Weekend at Elliott Lodge

The crew had a great weekend up at Elliott Lodge, where we split firewood for the upcoming Main Scout Camp and for use by other campers throughout winter. We also moved the remaining larger logs that were in front of the woodshed under cover and stacked them so they can dry and be split later on. Before: After:

New Crew Executive

Congrats to our new crew executive (listed below) for 2018! The Crew Executive were elected at our AGM on 4th December 2017 and will hold office until the next AGM in 2018.

Growing throughout 2017.

It’s been a busy year for the crew. We have welcomed 2 new members from 4th Kew Venturers into the crew. They have enjoyed getting involved in a number activities including rock climbing, paddle boarding, jack – o -lantern carving. We also welcomed Nick Pike who moved from Ria Warrah Rover Crew to Old Scotch.

Busy and enjoyable times for Rovers

The past few months have been very busy for the Old Scotch Rover Crew. We’ve recently welcomed Yusuke, a Rover from Japan, into the crew while he is studying in Melbourne. Elliott Lodge revisited

In 1928, Major General Harold Edward ‘Pompey’ Elliott (1878-1931), a senior Australian army officer during World War I, donated five acres (2ha) of land at Chum Creek on the Healesville-Toolangi Road for Scotch Scouting purposes. The property and lodge are named for him. Major General Elliott stated that he was inspired by the wonderful help the Scotch Scout Troop had rendered in the development of his son, Neil, who attended Scotch from 1925 to 1930.
